    Good afternoon colleagues,

The Humber College Public Safety Team are looking to host a 2 day NABITA SIVRA-35 training at our campus on June 1st. and 2nd. 2023.

What is SIVRA-35?? ?The following is taken directly from the the NABITA website:

“The Structured Interview for Violence Risk Assessment (SIVRA-35) is a 35-item inventory that is used to assist behavioral intervention team members and clinical staff in conducting a more thorough and research-based violence risk assessment. The SIVRA-35 is designed to assess the risk and protective factors related to an individual’s willingness to engage in violence.? This two-day course will provide an in-depth teaching on how to conduct an effective interview and gather information to score an individual using the SIVRA-35. This will include strategies for increasing likelihood of truthfulness, a discussion on how to phrase questions to probe for specific risk and protective factors, and the opportunity to watch demonstration videos and practice scoring them.”

My team regularly uses this tool in conducting threat assessments and have found it to be quite useful, practical and accurate in evaluating an individual’s capacity or threat to commit violence.? Used with other threat assessment knowledge and techniques, it can help you evaluate and score an individual and back up your assessments using a proven method.?

The anticipated cost for this two day training is $1,399.00 USD for non-NABITA members and $1,299.00 USD for members.? ? (Humber College is only providing the training space/location and does not receive any of the fees).

We would like to gauge interest from other institutions in attending this event.? ?If you are interested in participating, please let Thomas Urbaniak at Humber College know by emailing him at Thomas.Urbaniak@humber.ca

    Thank-you.

    Rob
