Access Control Policies

    Good morning,

Is anyone willing to share their building access control policy? Ultimately, we are looking to see how everyone has documented the granting of access/removal of access. IE, if students have access to a certain location via card swipe, do you have a documented policy that removes that access at the end of the semester or etc?

    Thank you!

    Bryant,

We do not give students access via electronic means.  We actually don’t give students access to any area that an employee is not present in.

    Bryant,

We have scheduled access to all building common areas for students, for most spaces that ends at 1900.? Some areas are configured to be later at 2100.?? We have a 24/7 computer lounge area with printers and upgraded services for students that has restricted access to the rest of the building.? For lab access or specialty spaces (art studios) access can be granted via class roster automatically this is done via an IT upload that resets every night off of our Banner database.? We can can grant individual access at faculty request.? All student access above “general” has to be approved via faculty.? Any 24/7 or restricted area (e.g.; animal lab) has to have faculty and chair/Dean approval.? Lot easier for us to manage as we are a smaller campus (approx 1800 students).?

    Chris?

Thank you, everyone. We will work on drafting our policy. I will strive to remember to post it here as well.

    Bryant?
