Two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter say a suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting.
The man had a unique characteristic on his firearm and that firearm was found when he was taken into custody.
The person has not been identified and has not yet been charged.

Providence police said in an X post at 5:33 p.m. ET that multiple people were shot in the area of Brown University on Saturday, Dec. 13, and that this is an active investigation. Police also advised residents and the students to “shelter in place or avoid the area until further notice.”
