John (Jack) Leonard joined the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) in May 2004 as the Accreditation Coordinator. His responsibilities include providing staff support for the Association’s Accreditation Commission; developing policy and procedures, coordinating assessment and review activities, and serving as the principal liaison with participating members. More recently, he has assumed responsibility for the coordination of the Loaned Executive Management Assistance Program (LEMAP).
Jack retired from the Connecticut State Police Department. During his thirty-one year tenure with the agency, he held a variety of field command and administrative positions. At the time of his retirement, he held the rank of Major and served as Commanding Officer of the Western District, where he directed the activities of four field troops, providing comprehensive police services to an area encompassing 62 towns as well as the Major Crime Squad and Traffic Enforcement Unit.
In 1994, he became an Assessor with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. An Assessment Team Leader, since 1999, he has coordinated the review of municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Heidelberg College, Jack is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy.
